Hmmmm... curious to see what other improvements they offer.

RE: X-T2? - Ralphbro - 16-Apr-2016 14:41

What improvements are any of you looking for?

RE: X-T2? - Tetrode - 16-Apr-2016 15:19

My X-T2 wishlist:

24mp sensor
Joystick (or similar) to allow quicker/easier selection of AF point
Beefier control pad buttons
Fully articulating LCD to allow use in portrait mode (no, not for selfies)
Touch screen
Higher flash sync speed
Higher capacity battery
Dual card slot
$500 rebate upon introduction

Is this too much to ask?

RE: X-T2? - Sheldon N - 16-Apr-2016 16:14

Only things that would really interest me would be improvements in shooting performance/AF, viewfinder clarity/quality, and higher ISO. Probably unlikely that I'll upgrade though.

Getting ready to sell my 23 1.4, probably going to stick with an 18-55 and 34 1.4 kit.

The last one, maybe. Agree with the rest, but the battery is outside Fuji's control (given the need to keep the current form factor/size).

He's not doing all that well once specifics are called for.

Mind you, the Republicans have two morons as well, and they're not even well-intentioned.

Even the NY Post can't believe it's come to this:

BTW, What's the best TTL option for Fuji at this time?

not to bring this on topic or anything like that but here is one photographers impression of the XT-2

Tell us how you really feel, Dan. A bit over the top with the effusive praise, wouldn't you say? The camera isn't even slated to ship until September so DB's body had to be pre-production. Chris Nicholls posted an early hands-on with the X-T2 yesterday and said they were not allowed to show samples because the cameras were still pre-production. In any case, even making allowances for the embarrassing fanboyism, the X-T2 does seem like it's going to be absolutely stellar (in the positive sense of the word, not the Hasselblad Stellar sense). And Dan's sample photos SUCK.

yes i would, what struck a chord with me was his bold text "better faster focus and less blackout between images" larger sensor and a joystick to select focus points, these were all sticking points for me as an action shooter so I guess I'm upgrading soon, yesterday used XT-1's were $900 used so it looks like I'm poised to loose $300 or so on the body which I'm ecstatic about since previous bodies cost me about $1500 in depreciation

RE: X-T2? - Tetrode - 07-Jul-2016 23:38

The improved AF tracking should really help with those action shots of Hammy.

RE: X-T2? - juice - 07-Jul-2016 23:49

Actually, I thought he wasn't too fanboiish at all. Some of his language could be better, but he's a snapper not a writer. But he's pretty grounded about most of the upgrades, I thought.

There's many worse X-T2 reviews out there today in terms of fanboi.

Also, I want one. But at $2300 for the body, that's not happening anytime soon. #thanksbathroomrenovation

Ahem:

"Does it live up to the hype? My answer, with absolutely no hesitation is yes."

"The X-T2 is so bad-ass, I don’t even know where to begin."

"The brand new Fujifilm X-T2 truly represents the next generation of X Series cameras; it has been refined and optimized for maximum performance in nearly every single way."

"As game changing as the X-T1 was, the X-T2 has set the bar even higher. Anyone who’s been waiting for a truly professional grade mirrorless camera, your wait is over. This is it."

"the X-T2 produces unbelievably sharp, high resolution imagery "

"... extraordinary depth, color rendition and improved gradation."

"...allows it to produce images that equal the sharpness of most full frame cameras,"

"This is where things really get bad ass. I hope they gave Mr. Iida and his techs a huge bonus, because X Series autofocus means business now"

"I’ve tried to throw everything I can at it, and I’m blown away by how fast and accurate it is."

" incredible speed and precision. "

Hyperbole much? I don't put much stock in this kind of breathless, pants-wetting verbiage, Mic. As a laundry list of features and improvements the article was fine but I'll wait for a more reasoned assessment of the camera's real world performance.

And, Mic, if it weren't for that darned bathroom, an X-T2 could have been yours.

RE: X-T2? - juice - 08-Jul-2016 00:13

Yeah, stupid bathroom.

But despite the above, I don't think it's anything like as bad as many. He at least used it in a decent variety of real world situations, tried it with slow AF lenses like the 56, didn't say "you must go and buy this now" and so on.

As I said, that's what you get when non-writers write.

Never say never! Say "probably not". I was very, very fond of my Fuji gear, Martin. Ergonomically, the X-T1 is far superior (my opinion, of course) to the A7RII. Resolution and AF performance, well, that's another matter entirely. 24mp and significantly improved AF? X-T2 may be a real high end contender. We'll see.

I don't have a huge problem with the Sony ergonomics (on their newer cameras, not the first generation A7S and similar), it's the Sony menus that I loathe! But... they take nice photos!
