Dog Image Thread #1 - DJ - 04-Oct-2012 04:10

A few from the other night. Natural light! I had forgotten how wonderful it is to just shoot, without worrying about strobes.

Wow, Deeej, these are great!!
I love them all, but the last one is super !!

RE: Dog Image Thread - DJ - 04-Oct-2012 04:17

Thanks, JB.

RE: Dog Image Thread - juice - 04-Oct-2012 04:39

Yep, that last one is a ripper.

Just so you know, I'm resisting posting one of Shanktard's images here, even after the post work we did on them.

RE: Dog Image Thread - Sheldon N - 04-Oct-2012 05:15

Cool shots DJ. Your pup is a great subject. +1 for natural light. Icon_smile

RE: Dog Image Thread - DJ - 04-Oct-2012 05:36

Thanks guys.

JB, the clip clone is not easy!

Re: Dog Image Thread - Blackshadow - 04-Oct-2012 07:08

Excellent work DJ!

Thanks, Richard.

Admittedly, I suck at cloning, but here it my attempt to clone out the silver clip:

RE: Dog Image Thread - June Bug - 04-Oct-2012 12:41

Put a frame around that one, DJ!!!
Looks much better without the clip!!
BTW - remembering to remove a clip or collar before snapping the pic is a lot easier than fixing it in post!!

Absolutely, but getting the pic is a lot easier when the dog is still there Icon_cheesygrin

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Ralphbro - 04-Oct-2012 13:26

Really nice DJ

Great images of a great dog.

I'd love to see a shot of Maverick with the kid you posted on the critic thread. Dueling heterochromatic eyes, or whatever JB said they were. Maybe it was homoerotichromatic eyesIcon_eek

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Rudi - 04-Oct-2012 13:53

Beautiful dog, beautifully photographed. (Who needs strobes??? Icon_mrgreen ).

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Rudi - 04-Oct-2012 14:11

Will this be our "official" dog image thread? If so, let me introduce Harry, my best friend. Speaking of strobes, these were taken while testing my old D-Lite4 studio strobes:

... and here he is a little while later, after his haircut. I'm pretty sure this was one of the test shots for my then new 600RX strobes. Icon_mrgreen

Yes Sir, that was my intent Icon_biggrin

Also, we can do this as a +1 /-1, just note that when posting.

Very nice images of Harry. I like the long hair, but it's nice to see his eyes in the short hair version.

Don't listen to them, Ralph. Here's another one of Harry. This is what he looked like on the day I brought him home:

"Them". Your comprehension is lacking at times, Ralph.

I tried... Icon_cheesygrin

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - alGARDNER - 08-Oct-2012 02:18

Ahhh, cuties.

Dogs, they're easy subjects that are most times challenging to compose but they will always just be themselves.

BTW: This is Bruce. He's described by his owner as "a bit fat" but he loves a cuddle. ;)

Dave, they're both ugly, it's not like there's a finite pool of it Icon_smile

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Tetrode - 10-Oct-2012 03:11

I don't believe I've posted this before. This is a neighbor's tiny 12 year old poodle, Kiki:

Definitely one of the sweetest dogs on the planet.

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Sheldon N - 10-Oct-2012 03:13

Ha! Super cute, that ball is almost as big as her head. Icon_smile

Yes, she is. She sat for a formal portrait back in June, straight from the groomer's:

I prefer pictures of dogs being dogs and doing doggie things (like retrieving tennis balls).

My former boss's Labradoodle, Fly.

Nice save there, Dave.

Oh, and such a great picture!! I've been asked to take a bunch of pet pics, and getting them to sit still can be quite a challenge sometimes.

Yes it can. Try it with three of them at once. It's fun! Icon_rolleyes

Ideally the black girl would have been on the left, closer to the main light, but that would have been too much to ask for. I was just glad that they sat still for a split-second. Icon_cheesygrin

Love the shots of Kiki, Dave. And like you I prefer dogs being dogs, but sometimes a photographer's gotta do what a photographer's gotta do. Icon_smile

A quick snap from this afternoon. Millie being a bad girl and playing among the plantings:

But who can get angry at a face like that?

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Sheldon N - 17-Oct-2012 21:38

She's got you wrapped around her paw, doesn't she Dave? Icon_smile

RE: Dog Image Thread #1 - Ralphbro - 17-Oct-2012 21:43

Nice hair cut on that girl.

Good girl Millie, show Dave who wears the pants in the family.
