The annual Bronxville Halloween Pug Walk took place this morning. Bronxville is a pug mecca and the Halloween walk is usually very well attended. However, with a monster storm bearing down on our area, attendance was down this year.

Somebody's baby:

A pug aviator:

And a Pomeranian interloper:

Nice shots, Dave, I love pugs, but that Pom is adorable.

On camera flash on the interloper?

Yep. I had an SB800 on board for most of the shots with flash exposure compensation set to -1.

The pom is definitely adorable but, unfortunately, her owner is a very unfriendly, snooty, sourpuss.

The Basset Bash must have been a real photo op, Ralph. Our local pug owners have a meet-up every Sunday at 10:30 am. It's really quite something to see.

And thank you for the advance best wishes. This storm is probably going to be very bad news for a very large number of people. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for all NYC residents living in Zone A:

The storm is expected to come ashore between mid and south New Jersey. I live just north of NYC in Mount Vernon so it won't be a direct hit here. However, the diameter of the storm is the largest recorded since the weather service has been tracking this statistic so a difficult 36-48 hours is pretty much a sure thing. I tested my generator again this evening and it's working just fine so at least we'll have lights and refrigeration.

Good news there at least.

A friend of mine (known to Pi as "shoot the guns girl", who is one of the two best goal umpires in the country - she umpired the Grand Final (ie Superbowl)) has just landed in NY for a three-month extended holiday. I think she'll miss the storm as I believe she's now at the airport on her way to London to umpire an exhibition game there on the weekend, but it's been an interesting couple of days for her so far!

Thanks, JB (and Mic). The Halloween pug walk is always good fun. Pugs are very affectionate little suckers and quite photogenic in their own gargoylesque way.

Great shots, Dave!

I love pugs, they are hilarious. Don't know if I'd own one, the health issues they're prone to would concern me too much. But they are great dogs and natural-born clowns. Icon_smile

GL Dj!

Wonder if GPS collars will ever make a debut, i think you can now buy small GPS locators that run off sim cards for relatively cheap, but i've only seen them marketed for cars.

No no, not anymore, these things are now ludicrously small.

Heres one i googled real quick:
http://www.zoombak.com/

They can make em small enough to completely hide in a bike with a SIM card. Nobody will ever find the tracker and you can get your bike back whenever. This is why i started looking at them a few years ago, but they were all well over 200$.

After googling, i might start looking again. At 30$/each, it'll just depend on what kind of SIM or monthly plan they have, some carriers have special business SIM cards for this purpose that only do /txt msgs, so a card can be logged to say 356 txt messages, and just reloaded on a yearly basis for cheap.

Just what we needed, we can use it for both Ralph and Pi !
