Not much, but better than it was over the last 15 years. I graduated in 1972 a year early. The school system was set up to keep kids in school, not educate them.

So you get "a degree" just for finishing high school? WTF?

(Here, it's 3+ years of university as the minimum for a degree.)

Excellent book: The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs by Tyler Hamilton, Daniel Coyle

This is an amazingly compelling book, and well-written as well. Very hard to put down.

If you weren't already convinced that Lance was a doper from way back, this will convince you. Even if you were convinced, you will still be amazed at the lengths he'll go to and the sheer vindictiveness of the bloke.

And the way it explains the drug culture in the peleton will change the way you think of it forever.

Easily the best book you'll read for a long time.

Oddly enough, the E-book is available from Barnes & Noble; $12.99. I refuse to purchase E-books at their artificially high, Apple-instigated price points.

TAUNTON, Mass. (KTLA) -- A poodle is recovering after being hit by a Toyota sedan on a highway in Massachusetts and being carried 11 miles in the car's grill. The car was driving about 50 mph near Taunton, Mass., two weeks ago when the dog ran into the road, the Taunton Daily Gazette reports. The driver said he hit the brakes but didn't see a dog anywhere, so he kept going.

About 11 miles down the road in East Providence, Rhode Island, another motorist stopped at a red light spotted the poodle and altered the driver. The dog suffered a concussion and possibly a minor bladder rupture, which has healed, and is said to be doing fine.

The East Providence Animal Control Center is now looking for the dog's owner.
