Selfie with a twist

Ah, technology. Fuji is awesome - they have a remote control app (WIFI) for Android and the Mapple, and everyone scoffs until they use it and see how good it is Icon_smile

This was taken with Cha holding the camera out at arm's length, and me doing likewise with the phone, which showed us the view from the camera, allowing selection of AF point, exposure adjustments, etc.. I then triggered the shutter from the phone, taking the photo.

I then hit a button and transferred the image from the camera to the phone (via WIFI), then beamed it to Cha's phone via NFC, and she put it up on Instagram.

#ilovetechnology

This copy I imported into the PC via WIFI, then put up via Lightroom. Also awesome.

Pfft, you didn't even put the camera down somewhere, she was still holding onto it!

Could of at least put it down on a counter or something that would make a remote control somewhat sensible. I never knew you were one of those people that used a remote to control a remote.

Did ya poke the TV with a stick when you couldn't find the remote Icon_cool

I bet it was a highly technical retractable stick Icon_lol

On a slightly more serious note, super clamp it somewhere and use the remote feature to take a selfie of you taking shots at a car as the car passes by...

Mic, time for a Camera Remote update and another selfie tomorrow. I just received this in an email from Fuji USA:

"Do you know if both Nooks have a GPS feature? I was informed that you cannot install Camera Remote Control Apps to tablets which don't have the function of GPS(Location service).

There will also be an updater for the Camera Remote app tomorrow. Perhaps try to install the updated version to see if it helps."

I see NO reason why GPS functionality should be a requirement for the Camera Remote app but, apparently, it is. My Nook tablets do not have GPS. The tablets do, however, offer location services (which is enabled) based on information collected from local WiFi networks. I've communicated this to Fuji.

I demand a second opinion! According to that STUPID test I'm 50% hipster.

Not a selfie but I finally got the Fuji Camera Remote app to work! Expensive solution, though; I bought a Dell Venue 7 tablet. Apparently, the app really does require hardware GPS, not just WiFi location services. The Dell has GPS and the app installed successfully.

I also tried a Samsung Galaxy Tab but the app wouldn't install on that device just as it wouldn't on either of my Barnes and Noble Nooks.

Here's a selfie of sorts; the X-T1 taking a photo of what it's seeing on the live view image in the Camera Remote app:

It's a very impressive piece of software. Works like a charm.

The Nikon herd has been pretty well thinned, Martin. The only Nikon bonbon currently on thin ice is the 200mm f/2G VR. For now I'll be keeping the D800E, D600, 14-24mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 17-35mm f/2.8, 60mm f/2.8 Macro, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 OS HSM Macro, and a few manual focus lenses. Now that I have the 56mm f/1.2 Fujinon, I'll probably sell the 58mm f/1.4 Voigtlander Nokton.
