Love the Fukashima hair, Mic. Is this someone you know? Was the shutter click followed by her screaming and clawing at you and summoning the gendarmes? Have you made bail? When's your court date?

Nah, I walked up, told her I loved the hat, asked to take a photo, gave her my card and told her to look there in a few days to see it Icon_smile

Pretty much how I do this stuff usually.

How Zack-like. You must seem more non-threatening in person than you do on the various forums (fora).

I'll bet you didn't really love the hat.

I have different modes I operate in. Streetshooting is at the lower end of the scale Icon_smile

In the meantime, I'm shooting 8x10 simply because it's a bigger format. Icon_smile

I watched that video a few days ago. It sure takes him a loooooooooooooooong time to say very, very little. It took Zack 13+ minutes to present three simple observations:

1. Technology continues to improve

2. APS-C sensors are now approaching "full frame" quality

3. His FUJI cameras with their APS-C sensors are good enough for most of his paid work.

Same goes for the ensuing blog post: Length inversely proportional to content.

Yep, that was my take as well.

I agree with him on anything stopped down though. Shoot at f/8? You'll never be able to tell the difference between APS-C or FF. Heck even MFDB doesn't really stand out as being that different than APS-C when everything is in focus.

I don't disagree. But he's not preaching to us, he's preaching to nuffies. Not much point giving them dot-points.

But the points he makes are correct, and couched in such a way that the lower-end of the market will be able take it in.

By "nuffies" I'm talking well and truly including the idiots in Fuji forums and on Fuji FB pages who are lamenting the lack of a Fuji FF ("Will the X-Pro2 be FF? It's the only thing that's holding me back!"), despite never having really shot them, or anything bigger and better.

As for "good enough", which I'm presuming wasn't an accidental inclusion Icon_smile

From the comments:
quote:Thomas – Good enough is not good enough for me. I have put these images side by side with full frame Nikon and Canon images. I’ve printed them. I’ve pixel peeped them. I’m 100% sold on the fact that these Fuji cameras hold up just as well as full frame Nikon and Canon cameras.

I certainly realize that knowledgeable photo nerds like us are not ZA's targeted demographic, Mic. However, "nuffie" or not, there was an undeniable overabundance of empty calories in that video and, unless you're really onboard with Zack's "shtick", it probably had many changing channels mid-stream. I know a little voice in my head kept screaming "Will you get to the point already!".

To be fair, I am not at all enamored of Zack's "shtick" and this was a particularly shtick-laden presentation.

Nah. FB closed her account (incorrectly) and that stuffed a lot of things up, and I hardly see anything from her anymore. Plus, now she's living in LA, I'm not really sure what she's doing. I do know that a friend of mine tried to book her to do a shoot on her 40th (in 18 months) and was turned down flat.
