And apparently it's "shocking"?

Wow, didn't see that coming. Not that it's surprising that someone would die at 78, just that usually they go quiet for a year or two before kicking off.

I was just arguing with him last month...

Well, at 78, he lived quite a while. I'm not even half way there yet. He certainly was a colorful guy (although I still think he must have been color-blind as evidenced by the outrageous, Playskool colors of his Alien Bees). I give the man credit for producing products that were affordable for the masses. They were certainly inexpensive, and arguably a very good bang-for-the-buck. If I hadn't purchased my BXRis, I'm pretty sure I would have purchased 2 or 3 Einsteins. Regardless of what you think about PCB himself, I really like the Einsteins, and the broad range of applications they can be used for. ... Of course, I haven't been spoiled by the compact, portability of the Cheetah/Godox strobes ...

I used to be a lumberjack.

Well, I'm shocked. No denying PCB was something of an overachiever. He made respectable (and, in many ways, innovative) studio lighting affordable and probably launched thousands of pro careers.

The Einsteins have proven to be rock solid units that can go toe-to-toe with the big boys. The Vagabond Mini Lithium, despite its industrial design shortcomings, was a brilliant disruptive strike on the portable power market.

But why did PCB have to adopt the Balcar accessory mount?

Yep, JB is correct, gotta give PCB credit where credit is due.

Wonder how the company will fare with Mrs. Buff at the helm.

I demand a second opinion! According to that STUPID test I'm 50% hipster.

Mankins are lumps of cold, dead plastic. But that doesn't mean they don't turn me on.
With friends like these, who needs mankins? I do, that's who.
I love pinging my junk with a rubber band. Dr Snip taught me how.
I lead an underworld cult of mankin people.

Touching sentiment, Martin.

Hadn't seen this photo of PCB before:

Interesting the number of guest book entries from all over the world; places where PCB gear wasn't sold.

I demand a second opinion! According to that STUPID test I'm 50% hipster.

I wonder who wrote his 'bit. Must not have known him very well, if (s)he thought he was 78.
By my math, hew was at least 80.

They calculated his age in "effective" years.

I can totally see that.
