Mankins are lumps of cold, dead plastic. But that doesn't mean they don't turn me on.

He we go
I had to dial the timing to get HS to work at all with the Ranger RX Speed with the S head.
Shutter band on bottom allows cleaner light in center of frame. It looks like a drop of about 2 stops going over sync.
I ran out of time to do more testing with power settings, I'm pretty sure this is what I'll get through any of the power settings.
Lots of button pushing to get through the menuing I've got a Gossen Digisky that can control power, modeling lights, etc. so jury is out on the new Skyport HS for me.
I'll need to shoot some with combined ambient

Sad to say this Skyport HS is going back. There's no value added without decent hypersync with my Canon bodies (5DIII and 40D).Icon_sad

I'm pretty sure Sheldog knew what the outcome was going to be, you can't fight physics. I'm curious as to why this thing seems to work much better with Nikon bodies.

Thanks Ralph, I would think that Lenin will be quite disappointed. Icon_smile

I'm curious what the falloff in strobe light due to the gradient/flash pulse looks like. Shutter band at the bottom is a non-issue for ambient shooting since your subjects are never at bottom of the frame and the ambient will take care of illuminating that portion. The gradient across the frame is a bigger deal depending on how strong it is.

Thanks Dave, we can always depend on accurate commentary from the peanut gallery, or, should I say in the South Carolina vernacular; goober pea gallery.

As for dark footed Lenin, I'd intended on shooting him in portrait orientation.Icon_cheesygrin
