Mankins are lumps of cold, dead plastic. But that doesn't mean they don't turn me on.
With friends like these, who needs mankins? I do, that's who.
I love pinging my junk with a rubber band. Dr Snip taught me how.
I lead an underworld cult of mankin people.

Hell no, but it certainly is a great deal for somebody wanting quality, portable power.

No, that would involve some slight level of self-awareness...

The old CEO died, I suspect he was a massive handbrake on the operation. However, I'm long gone, and very very happy to have done so.

If he was the handbrake and is gone, wouldn't the wheels finally start turning? I liked elinchrom, for the most part.

I thought they'd started.

Nonetheless, I think they're so far behind things now it's going to be hard to catch up. They're neither high end - Profoto, et al - nor cheap but good - Jinbei, Indra, etc - so they're wedged.

I think that the decline in SLR photography is pulling full size strobes along with it.

I'm not complaining Icon_smile

I definitely want to pick-up a lithium Ranger at some point for the power. Or maybe an equivalent Jinbei, depending on what good deal is out when i have the spare cash.

Mate of mine down here has just replaced all his Eli stuff (portable and studio) with Jinbei. All good once he got the floating solder blob out of one of the heads Icon_smile He reports the modifiers are pretty decent as well.

Why would you think the price would be even close to the same?

Because there's deals, maybe used, etc.

Even right now, the 1200ws Jinbei i google'd was around 1,380CAD (Only one result in Australia.....) with Adorama's Ranger being 1,350CAD.

Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed AS Action Set A Head - $3800

Jinbei Discovery II Portable 1200w Battery Powered Flash Kit With Bowens Mount - $1400

Same market comparisons help.

I was just giving you a scenario, i was not able to find the jinbei 1200w at adorama or b&h. Theres no way id buy either from australia for obvious reasons, and im not even currently in the market so maybe by the time i come around Jinbei will have different distribution/prices, or there might be a sexy used elinchrom kit available around me.

I have a jinbei 1200 and used it only 4 times since i got years ago. I have found that 400ws is all i need to get a shot and I dont even use full power. Plus the new godox 600 is kicking some ass. I have test market version it has some issues, but when the final release is out it will take the market by storm.

Name is Scott. I'm not people I'm a wizard.

I take average images and PS the hell out of them.

i always found it easier to have a skyport in one hand and a meter in the other than flipping through menus to adjust what i could do blindfolded with the two separate units, just my 2 cents

I like my Digisky. Using one of the skyports to adjust power is the fastest though.
