Sony fires another significant shot in the war. Also, some lovely new lenses.

RE: Sony A6300

Have you looked at the size, weight, and cost of the new lenses, Mic? YIKES! The 24-70/2.8, for example, is larger, heavier, and $400 more expensive than the Canon 24-70/2.8L II. The 85/1.4 is priced, what, $500 or $600 more than the f/1.8 Zeiss Batis. Puhleeze!

And the A6300 is a bit underwhelming to those of us who are not interested in video. The return to a 2mp finder is certainly welcome and the vastly increased number of AF points is worthwhile BUT the price of the body has doubled. I paid $498 for my A6000 and I see no features on the A6300 that would tempt me to upgrade. That said, I'm sure video shooters are wetting their pants. I suppose you could also view it as something of a bargain compared to the new Fuji X-Pro2.

PS: I really love the A6000.

I demand a second opinion! According to that STUPID test I'm 50% hipster.

If it's just weight/size savings that you were after by going mirrorless, you're absolutely correct. Many of the comments on the Sony Rumors site echo that sentiment. Fuji's fast lenses are also huge and pricey and theirs are not even full frame.

the new sony a6300's auto focus and zero blackout give me hope that Fuji will follow suit soon enough with an XT-2 and make me very happy that i got rid of all that extra weight Icon_biggrin

Are you referring to the size of the 85mm lens? It is quite the behemoth, isn't it? Shorter and considerably lighter than the 85/1.4 Zeiss Otus, though.

Looks like the Sony stuff is pretty similar in size to the 85 1.2 II.
